I am Karen Blakey, an experienced qualified counsellor covering many areas of mental health issues, including stress, anxiety and depression.
The natural progress of life can be both physically and emotionally demanding. Our life experiences along with the pressures and expectations of the fast paced, complicated and materialistic world, we live in, often lead us to suffer mentally and in need of a little help. We can lose our way and need to re-discover who we are and what we want from life. If this sounds like you, I can offer you therapy suited to your individual needs.
Through discussion, my aim would be to help you gain an understanding of yourself, your situation and what is important to you, change any negative thought patterns and assist you in acquiring self-help skills to aid your healing process and live your life more harmoniously. I can also offer you a safe confidential space where you can talk openly. A place where you will not be judged or criticised, but are listened to with empathic understanding, as you express your feelings and work through your problems. I use an integrative approach and would work at your own pace.
I am passionate about people and the well-being for others. Counselling helped me get through a difficult part of my life and gave me an understanding of myself and the self-help skills I needed. Training as a counsellor was my natural progression from working in educational settings over many years, supporting students of all ages to overcome their difficulties. As a result I have developed a desire to help others who are experiencing mental health difficulties in their life.
